The Experience

The Experience

An experience is offered from the moment of booking until departure. The guests are part of the foraging and cooking experience. The location set up showcases sustainable living. There is absolutely minimal footprint (land use, food sourcing, waste etc), this is strongly featured as part of the learning experience. Temporary structures are used for the camp.

For residential experiences of just one night, individual tents are provided and guests wake to the sound of birdsong over dew-soaked grass, with each the day already inviting adventure and exploration. With a feeling of being in the wilderness – yet are in close access of local towns and major cities of the West Midlands. You can pick the activities you would most like, within a frame of the overall journey through which you will experience individual reflection, connecting with others, and hands-on skills building.

The experience of being in and close to the woods, building a camp fire and bedding down near the trees is unforgetable, at the same time however the participants will learn as they go, in terms of the natural environment developing woodland knowledge as well as bushcraft skills.

The outdoor learning courses explore our own place and future of the planet, and through connecting with nature, and activities which result in real relaxation, using the great outdoors even for 4, 8 or 24 hours is time well spent. Taking a break from urban living sharpens the mind and soothes the soul, reawakening our natural, most wholesome selves. Participants will return to normality with renewed purpose and sense of self as well as equipped to lead or drive change for a better future.

There will be approximately 10 courses per year between April and September. Courses for whole teams are offered which are customised to the needs of the customer.
Summary of experiences on offer:
  • Survival skills, camp fire-making, foraging and cooking
  • Basic wood working courses; learning to make in the woods is therapeutic and rewarding and builds skills which we as humans have had since the beginning of time. First basic steps of green woodwork, includes foraging for the wood, whittling and spatula, spoon, bowl carving
  • Woodland management, focus on regeneration, tree species, light, and ecosystem services
  • Team games, mud modelling, collecting from the wood floor, art making
  • Mindfulness sessions, focus on breathing, sense of self, presence, being in the moment and noticing
The location

‘Your Children’s Future’ outdoor learning experience uses the 100 acres of private woodland to its full. The locations for the courses are nestled in the corners of park land fields next to the woodland, out of sight of any neighbor housing or roads, accessible from an overroad track.

The woodland used is secluded and spectacular, rich in biodiversity to learn from and immerse the participants in from an experience view point.

The ancient woodland and grassy meadow locations are perfect to offer guests mindfulness and intuition walks, however the base for the courses will be largely held in a pasture field location, to avoid woodland life disturbance. The outdoor learning base includes a natural outdoor kitchen, tented camp base with firepit and eco-toilet facilities are provided.
